Callum Beaumont takes the Springbank Invitational

Callum Beaumont was the overall winner at the Springbank Invitational Solo Piping Competition held on Saturday at the Seafield Hotel, Campbeltown by the Kintyre Piping Society.

The piper from Bo’ness was placed second in the ceòl mór (with Mrs Smith’s Salute), third in the MSR and second in the 6/8 march, winning him the Silver Medal and the new Willie McCallum Memorial Trophy for the overall winner which was presented to the Kintyre Piping Society by Springbank Distillery.

Runner up, Roddy MacLeod, won the ceòl mór (with Lament for MacSwan of Roaig) and placed third in the 6/8 March

Third placed was local, Willie McCallum who won the MSR and placed fourth in the Hornpipe and Jig.

The invited pipers were: Willie McCallum, Roddy MacLeod, Callum Beaumont, Finlay Johnston, Alasdair Henderson, Gordon McCready and Cameron MacDougall.

Judges: John Wilson, Ian Duncan and Murray Henderson. Bean-an-Tighe: Rona Lightfoot.
