Entry open for SPA Juvenile contest
In addition to the usual categories, this year's annual Scottish Pipers' Association Juvenile contest will feature chanter competitions. This is in order to stimulate interest in the younger learners.
The competition will be held at the College of Piping on September 9.

Entries are now being accepted for this year's Iain Dall MacKay Young Pipers Festival. The competition takes place on Saturday, 23th September in Gairloch High School.
Organiser, Ian Blake, said: "We have been running this competition for many years now with the main purpose being to encourage young pipers – under 18 years of age – to participate in friendly and relaxing competitions in memory of the celebrated Blind Piper of Gairloch.
"Iain Dall MacAoidh (1656-1754) was piper to MacKenzie of Gairloch and was blind from the age of seven as the result of smallpox. He composed some of the finest pibroch we have, of which about a dozen are still extant. He was also a fine poet."
There are eight classes:
Competition 1 – Primary pupil, March on practice chanter
Competition 2 – Secondary pupils, March on practice chanter
Competition 3 –Novice March on pipes, pupils playing pipes for less than 1 year
Competition 4 – Under 15 years, Piobaireachd (Iain Dall Chanter)
Competition 5 – Under 15 years, March, Strathspey and Reel
Competition 6 – Under 18 years, Piobaireachd (Iain Dall Quaich)
Competition 7 – Under 18 years, March Strathspey and Reel
Competition 8 – Open Under 18, Original Composition for Pipes or Fiddle, £100 (The Ishbel MacAskill Memorial Prize)

Aberfeldy Mòd Entries 2017
Late entries are being accepted for the piping competitions at the Perthshire & Angus Provincial Mòd. The competition takes place on June 10 at the Breadalbane Community Campus in Aberfeldy, Perthshire.
The competition has categories for juniors and adults.

Saturday 10th September 2016, The College of Piping, Otago St., Glasgow G12 8JH. Commencing 9.30am with B Grade events, after which the A Grade will commence.

The entry cost will be £4.00 per class payable with return of entry. Cheques and Postal Orders should be made payable to “ROBERT BURNS PIPING COMPETITION”. Closing date for entries: 31st August 2016: NO ENTRIES ACCEPTED IN HALL.
