Happy New Year from the College

Happy New Year from the College

MacCrimmon Cairn, Boreraig, Isle of Skye

The sun – and the old year – sets over the MacCrimmon Cairn, Boreraig, Isle of Skye.

As the first dawn of a new year beckons, we at the College of Piping would like to thank all those who have supported us this year. We wouldn’t exist – and thus be able to undertake our good work – without those of you who donate to us or buy something from the College Shop – be it a reed, a practice chanter, a set of pipes, a bag, a pair of drum sticks or whatever – or subscribe to, or advertise in, the Piping Times.

We thank you all.

As well as being a good year for piping and for the pipe band world,  2017 was also a good year for the College and its charitable endeavours. The number of students coming through our doors is increasing, our outreach schools initiative continues to grow, the Piping Times’ readership continues to rise, and our range of piping and drumming products remain the lowest priced anywhere.

It is perhaps timely to reiterate the message that the College is a not-for-profit organisation. Unlike a purely commercial organisation, where all profits go straight into the pockets or sporrans of the proprietors, the College is a charity in the true meaning of the word.

Tuition fees remain as low as possible and we often teach students of low means for free; this is not a myth but a statement of fact.

certificates, College Autumn School 2017.

We cannot do all this without your support and it is appropriate that we salute you at this time of year.

If you are piping and drumming tonight, we hope you have a great night.

We wish you all a great 2018.

See you on the grass and on the boards.
