Henderson withdraws from the Captain John

Faye Henderson out of the Capt. John A MacLellan MBE Memorial Trust contest

Faye Henderson, last year’s winner of The Captain John A MacLellan MBE Memorial Trust solo piping competition has been forced to withdraw from this year’s event, due to injury. Faye has an ongoing injury to one of her arms.

Faye said: “I am obviously very disappointed at not being able to take part. I would like to thank Colin MacLellan and the Trust for their understanding and I wish them every success for a great celebration of his father’s music.”

Trust Secretary Colin MacLellan said: “Both Faye and her playing would be greatly missed this year. However, everybody understands that these types of injuries must be treated with the greatest of care. Anyone who was lucky enough to hear Faye’s winning tune last year – The Salute to the Succession – will look forward to hearing Faye again at future John MacLellan Dinner/Recitals. Regardless, the Trust is delighted to honour Faye and her partner, Craig as special audience guests this year and we wish her the very best in her recovery”.

The remaining recitalists for the 2018 event on Sunday, August 26 are Cameron Drummond, Glenn Brown, Jack Lee, and Iain Speirs. A few tickets remain and can be booked through Tina Anderson at captainjohnmd@gmail.com
