Skye Games 2018
This year’s Skye Games solo piping competitions will take place on August 7 and 8.
Entry forms for the Dunvegan Medal and light music competitions will be accepted in the two months between the beginning of April and the end of May. Entries are restricted to 25 competitors.
A list of successful applicants and a reserve list (if necessary) will be circulated to all entrants in early June.
Entries for the Clasp Competition will be accepted up until the beginning of August. Orders of play will be e-mailed to competitors at the beginning of August and also posted in the Royal Hotel, Portree on the evening before the event. Entry forms are available here:
For the Dunvegan Medal, competitors have to submit four tunes from a list of MacCrimmon or MacCrimmon-related tunes. At last year’s competition, Ian K. MacDonald from Ontario won the medal with Lament for Donald Bàn MacCrimmon. Innes Smith won the Col. Jock MacDonald Clasp (with The King’s Taxes).
Cameron Drummond won the Silver Chanter (with the Battle of Waternish), Derek Midgley won the Kemble Star March and Simon McKerrel the Peter MacFarquhar Star Strathspey & Reel.
