Last year’s SPA Juvenile contest saw Pol Monk from Benbecula win the B Grade Piobaireachd and Max Grieve win the March. The Most Promising Piper was young Murray O’May.

Many entrants to this contest usually go on to become well established young players on the junior solo piping circuit, e.g. Brodie Watson-Massey, Callum Davidson, Robbie MacIsaac, Harry McLachlan, Donald Stewart and, of course, Lewis Russell who last week won the MacGregor Memorial at the Argyllshire Gathering. Lewis was in the prizes at last year’s SPA Juvenile A Grade competitions.

Lewis Russell from Livingston receives the College of Piping Trophy from Piping Times editor, Stuart Letford at Oban last Wednesday (23rd).
