Evening Classes

College of Piping Evening & Saturday Morning Classes

The College of Piping Evening and Saturday morning classes are held over three terms throughout the year. Term 1 is a 10 week term running between January and Easter. Term 2 is a 10 week term which commences Easter till July and Term 3 is a 10 week term which runs from September until December with a mid term break.

Evening Class Instructors

Monday Night

Jonathan Greenlees – Multiple World Championship winning piper with Field Marshal Montgomery Pipe Band, and winner of many top awards, including the Dunvegan Gold Medal and the Braemar Gold Medal as well as the All Ireland and Ulster senior titles.

Tuesday Night

Jonathan Lamberton - Multiple World Championship winning piper with Field Marshal Montgomery Pipe Band. Jonathan is a budding soloist, having won the All-Ireland Championships at Junior level and Ulster Championships at Intermediate level.


Jim Elmslie – Member of the famous Muirhead and Sons Pipe Band, an expert teacher who has taught at the College for twenty years. Pipe Major and teacher at Largs Boys Brigade.

Thursday Night

Daniel McDermott – Winner of the Grade One World Pipe Band Championship 2017 with Inveraray and District Pipe Band, training at Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.

Saturday Morning

Caitlin MacDonald – Graduate of Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, piper with ScottishPower Pipe Band, professional class piper winning many awards.


Bob McFie – Long time College teacher, PDQB/SQA Examiner, piping judge and organiser of College Veteran’s Association.


Classes run from 7pm till 9pm Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. Tuition is given on one to one basis. You will learn under the instruction of one of our expert Complete beginners welcomed.
